Welcome to the Edmonton Golf Association

What is the EGA?

The Edmonton Golf Association is a registered non-profit society of associated member clubs formed in 1921 to promote and preserve the game of golf in and around the Edmonton area.  The Edmonton Golf Association was incorporated in Alberta on October 16, 2003 and is run by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteers from member Clubs.

What does the EGA do?

The EGA works with the golf community and local businesses to schedule, plan and execute tournaments for the enjoyment and participation of amateur and professional golfers.

The EGA conducts a number of major tournaments annually, as well as organizing interclub competition for men, ladies and junior players in Edmonton and surrounding areas. Tournaments scheduled for the 2010 season include:

  • Ladies Amateur (Ladies, Senior, Super Seniors)
  • Men's Open
  • Junior Age Group
  • Men's Amateur
  • Seniors Men's
  • Tournament of Champions

Who can become an EGA member?

Invitations to join the EGA are sent to golf Clubs in and around the Edmonton area prior to each golf season. Clubs who would like their members to participate in EGA tournaments and interclub pay a fee to the EGA on behalf of their Club members.

Individual golfer entry fees for tournaments are based on EGA membership affiliation. Golf courses who are members of the EGA issue a membership/handicap card or have affiliation from the Canadian Professional Golfer's Association (CPGA), Professional Golfer's Association of Alberta (PGA Alberta), Alberta Golf Association (AGA), or Edmonton Golf Associate member organizations.

Golfers whose home course is not a member of the EGA can still enter EGA tournaments, but will pay a surcharge in addition to the tournament fee.

How are EGA member courses involved?

Member Clubs assist the EGA by hosting EGA tournaments at their golf Clubs during the course of the golf season. They are invited to attend two annual meetings of the association. The Clubs also host interclub play if they are interested in participating in interclub.
