Edmonton Golf Association Men's Interclub Rules & Regulations

Interclub Team

  1. A twelve-member team selected by each Club to participate in Interclub matches. The teams will consist of six "A" members and six "B" members. The first team of the "A" matches will include the Club Professional or his designate, and the previous year club champion. (Maximum 1 Club Professional). All interclub team members must be members of the participating club. Each club can substitute any player from a list of alternates. Each alternate must also be a member of the participating club.
  2. Any players that are not in good standing with the Edmonton Golf Association will not be eligible for play. If any matches are played with a member not in good standing, the team points will be disqualified.
  3. All Team Members are responsible for any green fees or reciprocal green fees. Which may apply. Members, which have season passes or Club Memberships that include yearly green fees, qualify for reciprocal green fees. Interclub Team Members, which would normally pay green fees, will be responsible for the green fees for any matches played. The green fees would be payable to your local member clubs. This then will qualify as a reciprocal green fee.
  4. A qualifying participant may only play for one Interclub team per golf season. Failure to comply will result in all points won by that player being deducted from the team’s totals.

Team Format

  1. Three - matches consisting of a two-man team best ball match play. Three points will be allocated to each match, one point for the front nine, one point for the back nine and one point for the 18 hole match.
        
  2. Following the matches, a luncheon is to be provided by the Host Club for the team competitors. Each Host must co-ordinate luncheon menu to make sure each host provides a similar experience.

Interclub Format

  1. Maximum 8 Team Division Minimum 4 Team Divisions.
    • 8 Team Divisions  - Top 2 teams move up 1 division bottom 2 teams move down 1 division. * Note see exception item # 7
    • 7 Team Divisions  - Top 2 teams move up 1 division bottom 2 teams move down 1 division.
      Split 4 clubs & 3 clubs for sub divisional play.
    • 6 Team Divisions  - Top 2 teams move up 1 division bottom 2 teams move down 1 division.
      Split 3 clubs & 3 clubs for sub divisional play.
    • 5 Team Divisions  - Top team moves up 1 division bottom team moves down 1 division.
      1 - 5 team divisional play. (Total 3 matches only not all teams would play each other)
    • 4 Team Divisions  - Top team moves up 1 division bottom team moves down 1 division.
  2. Clubs forfeiting any Interclub matches will loss their current division placement and will be placed in the last division the following year.10pts Will be awarded to the participating team for any forfeited matches, and zero points to the forfeiting club.

Interclub Play

  1. At a beginning of each year, each Division will be broken into 2 sub divisions. This will be done by random draw.
  2. Each member club will play each sub divisional club once. (Total 3 matches) See 4,5,6,7 team divisions above.
  3. 3 team sub divisions would play 2 matches only. (30 point. total after 2 matches would qualify for moving up 2 divisions)
  4. 5-team division or sub division would only play 3 matches. (Would not play all sub divisional clubs)
  5. Home team for sub divisional matches will be determined by a draw.
  6. The team with the most points after sub divisional play will have the choice where the home team match will be played. (Home or away).
  7. Sub divisional winners will be determined by the team with the most points after sub divisional play.
  8. If a tie occurs the match between the 2 clubs will determine the winner.
  9. If still Tied Individual Matches will determine the winner.
  10. Starting with the Pro / Club Champ Match,
  11. The 2nd, 3rd match Home Club.
  12. Then the 1st, 2nd,3rd Match away club.
  13. The sub divisional winning Clubs qualify to move up one division. (Exception would be any club totaling more than 40.5 pts after 3 matches. They could move up 2 divisions.
  14. The clubs that move down would be determined by the 2 lowest team totals for the division. If a team that moves up 2 divisions requiring a total of 3 teams to move into a division, then the 3 lowest team totals for the division will be used.  If any 3 clubs that must move down a division then the same would apply to the lower division. The same number of clubs that move up will also move down.

Division Placement.

  1. Interclub Play Divisions.
  2. Open to all EGA Member Clubs      
  3. Each Division A, B, C, D ...Z will be made up from member clubs wishing to participate in the each season.
  4. Previous Years Points will determine placement.

Matches may be scheduled on any dates prior to the completion date. The Edmonton Golf Association must be notified of any changes to the schedule.

Matches can be played on any day of the week that is acceptable to both clubs in case of scheduling conflict with the golf courses.
